The Titan is a laser procedure with no down time that promises to tighten up the skin rivaling the results of a face lift. The laser works by stimulating the collagen that lies below the surface of skin. When the skin ages collagen fibers stretch resulting in sagging skin. The Titan Laser heats the collagen layer which results in it contracting and thickening. Additionally it causes the formation of minute injuries in the dermal layer of the skin. These "injuries" create the production of more collagen.
Does the Titan hurt? YES. No matter what the esthetician tells you there is a lot more to feel here than just deep heat. It hurts at the end of each laser pulse - like a toothache in your skin. It goes away quickly - just in time for you to get ready for the next pulse....ouch. The treatment can creat some minor swelling and redness but all that goes away after 24 hours. It can definitely be described as a lunch hour treatment, but is it really a facelift in a laser? No, it is not.
The enormous heat dump into the deeper layers of the skin creates some tightening over the next few months, and results are visible but minimal. In other words, you may notice an improvement in the tightness of your skin, but you may be the only one who notices. Yes, the cost is substantially less than a face lift, but so are the results.
Cost - Approximately $2,000
Is it worth it?
If you are a spa owner, you may want to wait until the next generation of this laser is available for purchase. If you are a spa client and will be satisfied with some tightening that occurs over several months after the treatment, then go for it.
Out of five stars, the Titan gets a 2 1/2.
